BJP for probe into RJD Ministers' illegal wealth Saturday, January 22 2005 20:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Setting an aggressive agenda for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Jan 22, 2005) said it would institute a judicial inquiry into the "rein in the crime syndicates patronised by politicians."
"Once voted to power along with our NDA (National Democratic Alliance) ally JDU (Janata Dal-United), we will institute a judicial inquiry to go into amassing of huge illegal wealth by the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) Minister," BJP vice-president Sushil Kumar Modi said while addressing a press conference where he released the party's manifesto for the Assembly polls along with State BJP chief Gopal Narain Singh and former Union Ministers Ravishanker Prasad and Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
Modi promised that every Dalit family would be given a lactating cow the way the party's Government had done in Madhya Pradesh and assured that five lakh needy people would be allotted land to set up kiosks over the next five years on soft term loans.
"We will also take effective steps to bring about a legislation on the lines of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) to check the activities of crime syndicates patronised by the politicians," Modi said.
The manifesto while acknowledging spiralling crime as a major threat to development, promised to launch a concerted campaign against the outlaws and asserted that BJP was committed for setting up a 'society which abides by the rule of the law'.
"Ridding the state of the feeling of insecurity and establishment of a society which lives in harmony is our top priority," the manifesto said.
