'I don't believe in shows like that of Benny Hinn' Sunday, January 23 2005 19:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mysore:
Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said today (Jan 23, 2005) he has no beliefs in shows such as that of American evangelist Benny Hinn who held a three-day prayer meeting in Bangalore, and would not have attended it even if invited.
Asked about the Hinn's show in Bangalore, Siddaramaiah told reporters that there is no constitutional bar on prayer meetings and "all religions suffered from such superstitious beliefs".
"I do not however subscribe to such beliefs", he said. "Even if I am invited to attend such a meet, I will not participate as I have no such beliefs".
Siddaramaiah played down letters threatening to kill him for his views on the Kanakagopura issue, and said, "Some write letters more as jokes and others may have vested interests".
"I do not bother about such letters. If it pleases them, let them write such letters", he said in his characteristic rustic manner, amidst peels of laughter.
