Claiming that the slain Mutt manager of Srivaishnava Mutt Srinivasachar had consumed alcohol before he was killed, police today (Jan 23, 2005) said it had arrived at some details regarding the scene and circumstance of the murder.
Stating that were traces of alcohol evidenced on Srinivasachar, revealing that he had imbibed alcohol, the police said the killer had first strangled and then hacked the forehead and thrust a knife on the neck.
The enquiries revealed that the land owned by the Mutt was in the name of the slain Mutt manager.
Police said it was finding it difficult to question Hindi-speaking Ramayanji who had come to relieve the Mutt manager for his visit to Bihar to attend his mother's last rites. Ramayanji had stayed with Srinivasachar on the night of the murder.
Meanwhile, the body of Srinivasachar lay at the mortuary of the Chengapattu medical college after post-mortem, awaiting the relatives to claim it, police said.
The 40-year old Srinivasachar of the 100-year old Uttradi Srivaishnava Mutt near the famous Varadaraja Perumal temple, was hacked to death inside the Mutt premises.
