ULFA militants attack Guwahati market; 6 injured

Guwahati: At least six people were injured, some of them seriously, when ULFA (United Liberation Front of Assam) militants lobbed a hand grenade in the busy Ganeshguri area near the Dispur capital complex in the city today (Jan 24, 2005).

According to preliminary reports, the six people were injured when the militants hurled the grenade at them from a vehicle before escaping, Guwahati city superintendent of police Hiren Nath told reporters in Guwahati.

The busy area was crowded with people, some of them busy with shopping, when the grenade went off.

The injured have been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College hospital.
