Miraculous escape: Bogies of express train derails Monday, January 24 2005 12:01 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The passengers of Delhi-bound North East express from Guwahati had a miraculous escape when five bogies of the train jumped the tracks near Tilrath station under Sonepur division of the East Central Railway at 01:45 hrs (IST) today (Jan 24, 2005), railway sources said.
EC Railway Chief Public Relations Officer A K Chandra said that five passengers suffered minor injuries and were discharged after first aid.
He said that 15 of the bogies, which were on the tracks where detached from the five derailed ones in which their passengers were accommodated for their journey upto Barauni where four coaches were added to accommodate all passengers for their onward travel.
Routes of several train including Delhi-New Jalpaiguri, Mahananda Express, Awadh-Assam express and Delhi-Guwahati North East Express were changed.
Replying to a question Chandra said that the police and railway authorities were investigating whether the accident was caused by sabotage.
The Additional General Manager of EC Railway Divisional and Railway Manager, Sonepur were camping at the site and repair work was likely to begin soon.
