SC petition challenging the removal of Governors

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Jan 24, 2005) referred to the constitution Bench a petition challenging the removal of four Governors by the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government, saying that it required interpretation of Constitutional provisions relating to appointment and removal of Governors.

The Governors of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat were removed by the Congress-led UPA Government after it assumed power at the Center.
