Police seals Parveen Babi's flat; No claimants yet
Monday, January 24 2005 14:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The suburban Juhu flat of actress Parveen Babi, who was found dead in the residence on Saturday (Jan 22, 2005) has been sealed, as there are no claimants, police said today (Jan 24, 2005).

"We have sealed the flat for now since we have failed to trace any will bequeathing the flat to someone," DCP Amitav Gupta told sources in Mumbai.

"However, we are waiting for claimants to come forward and produce the proper documents and also will, if any, to claim the flat," he said.

On the actress' property in Junagadh, he said, "Right now we have taken custody of the flat only because the body was found in it. We are not involved when it comes to the rest of the property. It then becomes a civil case," Gupta said.

"We will be setting aside some time for claimants to come forward. Only the person with the right legal documents and will, if any, would be handed over the flat," he added.

The police have also made it clear to those who had claimed her body yesterday that the same did not construe to inheriting her property.

Babi, who had no siblings, was living at her four bedroom spacious flat facing the sea all alone. Her over 2000 square feet flat, including a terrace, is estimated to cost over one crore. She also had property inherited from her parents in Junagadh.

The glamorous actress of yesteryears was found dead in her room on Saturday. The post-mortem report had revealed nothing suspicious.
