Irked by Opposition party members behaviour that led to noisy scenes during the January 20 address by the Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi to the joint legislature, Speaker Krishna today (Jan 24, 2005) warned of initiating action "if they repeated the action in future".
Brushing aside the defence offered by Opposition BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader B S Yediyurappa and others that such protests during the Governor's address were common and has been accepted, Krishna shot back saying, "The Governor has to be respected".
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Law H K Patil, endorsing the views of the chair said under article 175 and 176 of the constitution and section 27 of the rules of procedure of the house, it has been stipulated that no disruption was caused to the Governor while he addresses the Joint Session.
