Padma award-a recognition for Wipro staff: Premji

Bangalore: IT Czar Azim Premji today (Jan 25, 2005) termed the conferring of the Padma Bhushan award as an "honour" and said it is a recognition for Wipro employees and the Indian industry.

"I am honoured. It is a recognition for all my colleagues in Wipro and outside in the industry," Premji, Chairman of the Rs 5881 crore Wipro said in a brief statement.

India's richest man, Premji heads the NYSE-listed Wipro, one of the top three IT firms of the country which employs over 40,000 employees in software, BPO and consumer care industries.
