Mortal remains of TDP MLA Paritala Ravi cremated Tuesday, January 25 2005 21:50 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The mortal remains of TDP (Telugu Desam Party) Legislator and former Minister Paritala Ravi, who was shot dead yesterday, were cremated at his native place at Venkatapuram, about 60 km from Anantapur, today (Jan 25, 2005).
Tension prevailed in the village for some time when the supporters of Ravi tried to attack the police and mediapersons, police said.
Later, the supporters of Ravi set afire a police jeep in the village when the body was being taken for cremation.
Former Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, along with senior party leaders and a large number of party workers, had attended the funeral.
As a precautionary measure, curfew has been imposed in Anantapur town till tomorrow morning.
Forty-seven year old Ravi, a three-time MLA and former Minister, was shot dead, along with his gunman and a follower, by unidentified assailants at TDP office in Anantpur town.
