Targeting Railway Minister Laloo Prasad over the recent kidnappings in Bihar, JDU (Janata Dal-United) president George Fernandes today (Jan 26, 2005) said such incidents had become a "norm" under the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) rule in the State.
"Kidnappings are a norm in Bihar. I am ashamed at not being able to personally take part in the students' revolution since I am involved in the campaign to remove Laloo," he told reporters in New Delhi.
Students of private schools in Patna stayed away from Republic Day cultural programmes continued with their relay fast and formed human chains protesting against the abduction of their fellow pupils in Bihar.
On the move by Laloo to convert the U C Banerjee Committee into a Commission, Fernandes criticised it and said, "Laloo has no link or understanding of the law. I have full faith in the Nanavati Commission."
The NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Convenor was talking to reporters at the residence of L K Advani where the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President unfurled the national tricolor on the occasion of 56th Republic Day.
