Three ultras, two of them Pakistani nationals, were killed in separate incidents across Jammu and Kashmir where militants abducted a village Defence committee member since last evening, a police spokesman said today (Jan 26, 2005).
Two militants, one each of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits, were arrested along with six kgs of RDX during the period, the spokesman said.
Pakistani nationals Khalid and Abu Adnan were killed in a gunbattle with security forces at Zampathri-Keller in Pulwama district of south Kashmir last evening, the spokesman said.
Another militant was killed in an encounter at Panzwa in Duroo area of Anantnag district today, he said.
The spokesman said militants intruded into the house of VDC member Mohammad Hussain at Thanda Pani in Udhampur district last evening and kidnapped him. Police has launched a hunt to nab the militants responsible for the act.
Security forces arrested a militant of Hizb outfit at Zowastan-Awantipora in Pulwama district last evening and recovered six kgs of RDX from his possession, the spokesman said.
BSF (Border Security Force) troops arrested a locally trained militant Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh of LeT outfit in Pulwama district last evening and recovered one AK 56 rifle, its two magazines and 60 rounds of ammunitions, a BSF spokesman told reporters.
He said the BSF personnel also recovered one AK rifle, its three magazines, 240 rounds of ammunitions, two under barrel grenade launchers with four grenades, three IED remotes and a wireless set from an under construction house at Bemina in Srinagar.
