Patna: In yet another abduction of a schoolboy, Dipak Kumar of DAV Public school was kidnapped in Bihar's Bhagalpur town yesterday (Jan 25, 2005), police said.

Sources in Police Superintendent Office, Bhagalpur, said that Dipak, a student of standard seven of the school was on his way to board a school bus at Tatarpur Chowk when he was kidnapped.

His father Kapil Dev Mahato lodged an FIR about the abduction of Dipak with Habidpur police station late last evening, as Dipak did not return home. This is the third instance of abduction of a school student in Bihar in just over a week even as two students kidnapped earlier remained traceless. The abduction of Kishlay Gupta, a student of Delhi Public School in Patna, sparked protests by students of private, public and convent schools in the state capital.

Another student of DAV Public School in Biharsharif was kidnapped while going to catch a bus on Monday (Jan 24, 2005). He is also traceless.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Chatra Janata Dal observed Patna bandh yesterday to protest the kidnappings.
