BSP MP Kailash arrested under Arms Act in Bihar Wednesday, January 26 2005 16:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Lok Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh Kailash Nath Yadav and three others were arrested for possession of illegal firearms at Mohania in Bihar's Kaimur district during electioneering today (Jan 26, 2005), officials said.
Kaimur district magistrate B Rajendra told sources in Patna that Yadav, MP from Chandauli, was arrested when a contingent of Bihar police intercepted his convoy at Mohania and found him in possession of illegal firearms.
Rajendra said police intercepted Yadav's convoy of three jeeps, which were going at a very high speed and during the search it was found that he and his supporters were carrying six firearms. While licences of four weapons were valid for Uttar Pradesh only, the rest two firearms were unlicensed.
The DM said the MP and three others have been booked under the Arms Act as also section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits people from moving with lethal weapons without the permission of the authorities.
Rajendra said an FIR was being lodged following which they will be forwarded to Bhabhua jail.
