MLA murder: Naidu calls for YSR's resignation Wednesday, January 26 2005 17:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Hyderabad:
Dissatisfied with the Andhra Pradesh Government's decision to hand over the Paritala Ravi murder case to CBI, TDP (Telugu Desam Party) today (Jan 26, 2005) demanded a judicial probe by a sitting High Court or Supreme Court judge and demanded resignation of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy to ensure an impartial probe.
"Reddy has a single point programme of eliminating strong political rivals and has been successfully concentrating on it since he took reign of the State", the TDP President, N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters in Hyderabad.
Claiming that Ravi's murder was a planned conspiracy, he alleged that, "This must be the handiwork of a professional" and castigated his doubts over some policemen attached to Kurnool battalion.
Naidu recalled that Ravi had told him that "some policemen, attached to Kurnool battalion, who allegedly had killed three other faction leaders in Anantapur district in the past, may eliminate him".
"Now our enquiries have revealed that some policemen were on leave from this battalion", he said. A thorough and impartial probe would unearth the conspiracy behind the murder, he added.
He said, "We have demanded fool-proof security for some of our leaders who were either on hit-list or under threats from various quarters". When asked to name the leaders, Naidu parried the question saying, "We will comeback soon with all the evidence.
