New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday (Jan 25, 2005) expressed shock and grief over the death of a large number of devotees in a stampede at a temple in Satara in Maharashtra.

In a message to Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, the Prime Minister requested him to take all necessary measures to provide relief to the affected.

He also urged Deshmukh to convey his sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery to all those injured, an official release said.
