Train crash in Los Angeles; at least four killed

Los Angeles: Emergency operation is under way in a Los Angeles suburb after an apparent crash between two commuter trains and freight train.

At least four people have died and as many as 100 may have been injured, with people being treated by the crash site, according to television reports.

Television pictures show fire-fighters working to find survivors in smoking carriages.

The crash happened at 06:00 hrs (Local Time) today (Jan 26, 2005) in Los Angeles' Glendale suburb. The cause is not yet known. There is no official information on how many people may still be inside.
