Several feared killed in blast at rally in B'desh

Dhaka: Several people were feared killed today (Jan 27, 2005) in an explosion at a rally organised by the main Opposition party Awami League in Bangladesh's northeast Hadiganj district.

Channel Eye TV reported that two people were killed in the blast.

Witnesses said they saw several people lying in a pool of blood. Unconfirmed reports said several injured died in hospital.

The main guest at the rally, the former Finance Minister of Bangladesh S M S Kibria was also injured in the blast.

No other details were immediately available. Several thousands participated in the rally.
