MLA's murder was pre planned by Mulayam: Maya Thursday, January 27 2005 16:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Allahabad:
Mounting a frontal attack on the Mulayam Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh, BSP (Bahujan Samajwadi Party) chief Mayawati today (Jan 27, 2005) charged the Chief Minister with orchestrating the murder of her party MLA and demanded a CBI probe into the incident and dismissal of the State Government.
After visiting the residence of the slain BSP MLA Raju Pal, she alleged, "The murder of BSP MLA was a pre-planned conspiracy by the Samajwadi Party Government at the behest of Mulayam Singh, political don Atiq Ahmed and their party activists."
"Mulayam Singh has conspired with his "right hand man" Atiq Ahmed, MP, to eliminate Pal," she told a crowded press conference.
Mayawati said she would call upon President A P J Abdul Kalam to demand imposition of President's rule in the State to free it from Mulayam Singh's "jungle raj."
She said the ruling party was trying to paint the murder as a result of gang-war and asked, "Why the security-men guarding Pal were silent when the attack happened and why didn't they retaliate."
She termed the arrest of Atiq Ahmed's brother Mohd Ashraf an "eye-wash" and said nothing short of a CBI probe would unravel the truth.
Alleging that "utter lawlessness" prevailed in the State, she asked the Congress to cooperate with her efforts to oust the State Government.
