Lucknow: Mohd Ashraf, brother of controversial Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Atiq Ahmed and an accused in the murder of the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) MLA from Allahabad Raju Pal, was arrested in Lucknow today (Jan 27, 2005), police said.

Ashraf, who had unsuccessfully contested the byelection against Raju Pal last year, was arrested from Hazratganj police circle area in Lucknow.

He has been named accused in the killing of Pal, an MLA from Allahabad West constituency, in Dhumanganj police station area of Allahabad on Tuesday (Jan 25, 2005). Two others were killed and three others were injured in the attack.
