Assault case: Bail plea orders of accused on Jan 31 Thursday, January 27 2005 19:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
The Principal Sessions court today (Jan 27, 2005) fixed January 31 for delivering orders on bail applications filed by Kathiravan and Sundaresa Iyer, co-accused in the Radhakrishnan assault case.
Principal Sessions Judge P Murugesan reserved his orders after hearing arguments in favour of the applications and against them by counsel for the defence and prosecution.
The prosecution strongly objected to grant of bail to them on the ground that they had been booked under the Goondas Act and were not entitled to it.
Kanchi Mutt Seer, Jayendra Saraswathi had already obtained bail from the Madras High Court in the case, pertaining to the Sept 20, 2002 assault on a former temple official Radhakrishnan, his wife and an attendant.
The Junior Pontiff today filed a petition in the Madras High Court for anticipatory bail, apprehending arrest in the case.
