Dialogue process with India 'moving ahead': Aziz Friday, January 28 2005 19:34 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Islamabad:
Notwithstanding differences over Baglihar hydro-power project in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan has said the dialogue process with India to resolve all outstanding issues is "moving ahead".
"The composite dialogue is moving ahead," Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said while admitting Baglihar dam project has created "some complications."
"We are hoping that this will resolve through dialogue...it is not the end of the world. Luckily it is governed by a treaty which provides for dispute resolution. We now leave it to the experts to decide," Aziz, said in an interview to Pakistan daily 'Dawn' in Brussels before flying to Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting.
In Davos, Aziz told a breakfast meeting on the sidelines of the WEF, that Pakistan would press ahead with the gas pipeline project even if India refused or was unable to join the plan.
He said he had told India that "if you come along, we would be delighted to work with you. If for some reason you don't (take part), Pakistan is going to go ahead anyway, so tell us when you're ready."
Aziz said he would discuss the matter with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh when the two meet in Dhaka next month during the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Summit.
