Notifications for last phase of Assembly polls

New Delhi: Notifications were issued today (Jan 29, 2005) for the third and final phase of next month's crucial Assembly polls in Bihar and Jharkhand.

The Governors of the two States issued the notifications setting the stage for filing of nominations for 93 Assembly constituencies in Bihar and 28 seats in Jharkhand.

Spotlight: Elections 2005

For the third phase of polling on February 23, the last date for filing of nominations is February 5 and scrutiny will take place on February 7. The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be on February 9.

The first phase of Assembly polls on February 3 would cover the entire 90 seats in Haryana, naxal-affected 64 of the 243 seats in Bihar and 24 of the 81 seats in Jharkhand.

In the second phase of polling on February 15, 86 seats in Bihar and 29 seats in Jharkhand will be covered.

Counting for all the three phases would take place on February 27.
