Assault case: Bail pleas of accused turned down

Chennai: A Sessions court in Chennai today (Jan 31, 2005) turned down the bail applications of Kathiravan and Sundaresa Iyer in the Radhakrishnan assault case, on the grounds that they were not entitled to it having been booked under the goondas act.

Spotlight: Kanchi Jayendra Saraswathi's Arrest

Dismissing their bail applications, principal sessions judge P Murugesan cited the recent Madras High Court ruling denying bail to persons charged under the goondas act. Besides, being accused in the assault case in which Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi is co-accused, the two are also charged in the Sankararaman murder case.
