The Center is overwhelmed with the outcome of civic polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil expressed that in words by saying he is "very happy" with the massive turnout.
"I am very happy that a large section of people came out for the civic polls which is taking place after 27 years," Patil told reporters in Agartala last night (Jan 30, 2005).
"When elections take place, they solve certain problems, which we have seen in other places like Punjab, I hope the election in Jammu and Kashmir would also help in reducing some problem," he said.
When asked about the attack on the convoy of former BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President M Venkaiah Naidu in Bihar during electioneering, Patil refused to comment but said that even the helicopter of former Union Minister late Madhav Rao Scindia was attacked.
