Patna: Mounting a scathing attack on the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, for maintaining silence over the 'worsening situation' in Bihar, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Feb 1, 2005) said that by doing so, the Congress had once again supported the RJD misrule and thereby undermining its own credibility.

''Sonia ji did not utter a word against the ruling RJD which is responsible for the sorry state of affairs in Bihar during her campaigning. By doing so, the Congress president has once again voiced her party's support to the RJD misgovernance,'' the BJP general secretary, Arun Jaitley, told a press conference.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the arrangements made for the first phase poll, Jaitley urged the Election Commission (EC) to make adequate security arrangements to ensure that voters exercise their franchise 'fearlessly' in Naxal-hit constituencies.
