Rekmaiah was yesterday (Jan 32, 2005) formally arrested by Anantapur police in connection with the murder of former Minister and TDP (Telugu Desam Party) Legislator Paritala Ravi and remanded to 14 days' judicial custody.
Rekmaiah, who had surrendered to Mahaboobnagar police on Januray 27 claiming that he was among those who had murdered Ravi, was produced before the Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate, Jayaraj in Anantapur town, police said.
The confession of Rekmaiah before police about the murder of Ravi has given a lead to the police into the investigation and further arrests or surrenders are likely to take place in next few days, police sources said.
TDP MLA Ravi was gunned down in Anantapur town while he was coming out of the party office after attending a general body meeting on January 24.
