State of Emergency: PM briefed on Nepal situation

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh today (Feb 01, 2005) met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and briefed him on the latest political developments in Nepal. During the hour-long meeting, the upcoming SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) Summit in Dhaka was also discussed, official sources said.

New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation in Nepal, where King Gyanendra dismissed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Government accusing it of "failing to protect democracy" and declared a State of emergency in the country.
