CBI raids IT Officer; huge property unearthed Wednesday, February 2 2005 20:34 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The CBI sleuths, as part of its nationwide anti-corruption drive, today (Feb 2, 2005) conducted searches at the residence of an Assistant Income Tax officer in Hyderabad and unearthed cash and property worth over Rs 1.70 crore, CBI sources said.
A case of income disproportionate to known sources of income was registered against the officer and searches were still going on at his residence at Gaddiannaram and other places, CBI sources said.
During the search, the CBI officials found Rs 1.70 crore worth properties including Rs 30 lakh in cash, Rs 50 lakh in fixed deposits and Rs 40 lakh bank balance besides a kg of gold ornaments, the sources said.
