Congress decides to form next Govt in Goa

Panaji: Congress tonight (Feb 2, 2005) decided to stake claim to form a new Government in Goa.

PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) president Luisinho Faleiro told reporters that, "We will form the Government most probably today."

A meeting of party MLAs and supporting parties is being held in Panaji to elect a new leader who will be the next Chief Minister.

Former Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane, who was elected leader of the Congress-led Front United Legislature Party a couple of days ago, is tipped for the post.
