Chinmaya Ghare Khan, India's envoy for West Asia

New Delhi: Chinmaya Ghare Khan was today (Feb 3, 2005) appointed as India's special envoy for West Asia and Middle East peace process.

A veteran diplomat, Khan had served as India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York in early nineties, PR to the UN in Geneva and Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office.

Khan, who retired in 1992, has served as Under Secretary General in UN, first as UN Secretary General's Personal Representative to Security Council and later as UN Special Coordinator in the Occupied Territories.
