Mulayam warns Cong of 'grave consequences' in UP Thursday, February 3 2005 17:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Jhansi:
Accusing the Centre of conspiring to impose President's Rule in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today (Feb 3, 2005) warned the Congress of "grave consequences" if it attempted to dislodge the Samajwadi Party-led Government in the State.
"The Centre is conspiring to impose President's Rule in the State. If any attempt is made to destabilize the State Government, the SP would not let Congress get even close to the throne of Delhi in future," Yadav told a gathering after laying the foundation stone of four bridges in Chiragaon in Jhansi this afternoon.
He claimed that even in the past, whenever Congress removed any State Government, the party itself ended up facing a rout in that State. The Congress, which ruled the Country for the maximum period following independence, effectively did nothing for the country's development, especially UP and Bihar.
The Opposition parties were raising a hue and cry over the law and order situation in UP following the murder of an MLA in Allahabad eventhough the State Government had arrested and sent to jail the legislator's killers, he said.
"The law and order situation in UP is still better than many other States," he added.
