SC reserves order on shifting Pappu from Beur jail Thursday, February 3 2005 14:58 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The Supreme Court today (Feb 03, 2005) reserved its orders on the issue of shifting RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) MP Pappu Yadav, an accused in the Ajit Sarkar murder case, from Beur jail in Patna to some other prison as he had abused the facilities given to a prisoner.
The CBI, which investigated into the murder case, insisted that Yadav be shifted out of Bihar and lodged in a prison where video conferencing will be available for smooth conduct of trial of ten cases.
The court also directed the CBI to seize all papers from Patna medical college pertaining to the treatment given to him while being lodged in the prison ward of the hospital.
Keeping in mind the visit of Yadav to Madhepura during the last parliamentary elections even when he was in judicial custody, the court asked the district judge of Madhepura to furnish within two weeks all relevant judicial papers pertaining to Yadav in this connection.
The court posted the matter for further hearing on Feb 17.
