Remand of Jr Seer, 16 others extended till Feb 10

Kancheepuram: The judicial remand of Kanchi junior Seer Vijayendra Saraswathi, his brother Raghu and 15 others was extended till February 10 in the Sankararaman murder case by a court in Kancheepuram today (Feb 3, 2005).

Vijayendra Saraswathi, arrested on January 10, Raghu and 15 others, lodged in Chennai Central Prison, were brought together and produced before First Class Judicial Magistrate G Uthamaraja in the afternoon while Ravi Subramaniam, who has turned approver in the case, was produced in the morning.

Ravi Subramaniam has been lodged in the sub-jail here. Others whose remand was extended were, Former Mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer, Meenakshi Sundaram, Sekar, Ravi, Palani, Kumar, Ananda Kumar, Bhaskar, "Silverstar" alias Stalin, Satish, Arumugam, Arun, Devaraj and Dil Pandiyan.

The Magistrate had last week extended the remand of six other accused, including key accused Appu alias Krishnasamy and Kathiravan, till February 10.

Senior Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and two other accused in the case, Arumugam and Senthil Kumar have been granted bail.
