'Pappu Yadav to resign from LS membership soon'
Saturday, February 5 2005 20:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: Revolting against RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) president Laloo Prasad for his alleged 'highhandedness' in distribution of tickets ignoring the genuine claims of party workers, incarcerated Lok Sabha member Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav today (Feb 5, 2005) said he would resign from the membership of the house and the party soon.

"Let me take the oath of the house first and then I will resign after informing the people of Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency, the seat I won by a huge margin on an RJD ticket," Pappu Yadav told a group of reporters when he was brought to the CBI court for production from Beur jail in connection with the CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case.

Stating that he did not want to stay with the RJD even for a moment, Pappu Yadav said he would also resign from the primary membership of the party and seek election afresh from Madhepura.

Enraged over alleged denial of tickets to candidates of Pappu's choice in Madhepura, Purnea and Saharsa considered to be his stronghold, his supporters have pledged to work for the defeat of RJD's official nominees in three districts.

Pappu Yadav charged the RJD boss with 'nominating brokers and touts for contesting the elections ignoring the grassroot workers'.

He also accused Laloo Yadav of "taking money for allotting RJD symbols to self-seekers". He alleged that Laloo's brothers-in-law who were also instrumental behind distribution of the RJD tickets "will prove to be the last nail in his coffin".
