RJD, LJP, JDU & CPML candidates arrested in Patna Saturday, February 5 2005 19:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Three candidates of the CPML (Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation), two of LJP (Lok Janshakti Party), JDU (Janata Dal United), one each of RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal), BSP (Bahujan Samajwadi Party) and Samajwadi Party (SP) were arrested in Bihar's Muzaffarpur, Saran, Siwan and East Champaran districts today (Feb 5, 2005), police said.
CPML candidates for Mairwa, Darauli and Raghunathpur, Satyadeo Ram, Amarnath Yadav and Jainath Yadav, respectively, were taken into custody when they turned up to file their papers in Siwan, police said.
RJD nominee Maheshwar Yadav was taken into custody when he turned up to file his papers for Gayghat Assembly seat in Muzaffarpur district as a non-bailable warrant of arrest was pending against him in a criminal case, the police said.
JDU nominee for Gayghat seat Ashok Kumar Singh and its candidate for Kurhani, Manoj Kushwaha too were taken into custody while going to submit their papers in Muzaffarpur.
LJP nominee Ratan Paswan too was arrested in Chapra while filing his nomination for Garkha Assembly seat in Saran district, police said.
He was declared absconder by a local court in a case filed by the State excise department.
Another LJP nominee Suresh Sahni was also arrested when he turned up to file his nomination for Motihari seat in East Champaran district.
A BSP nominee Ramayan Singh was also arrested in Maharajganj while submitting his papers for Basantpur seat. Pawan Jaiswal, Samajwadi Party nominee, was nabbed at the time of filing of his nominations for Dhaka in East Champaran district.
