Pratapsingh Rane confident of proving majority Saturday, February 5 2005 16:01 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane today (Feb 5, 2005) expressed confidence that his Government would be able to prove its majority and said "nobody will remain with them (BJP) as the Manohar Parrikar regime was like the rule of erstwhile Portuguese dictator Salazar.
"Nobody will remain with them. I was reminded of the Salazar rule when I was a young man. That time people used to whisper and not talk. This type of things were happening (in Parrikar rule)," Rane told reporters dismissing reports of dissidence in Congress over ministerial berths.
The press conference was also addressed by AICC (All India Congress Committee) general secretary Margaret Alva and Goa PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) president and Minister Louisinho Faleiro, who insisted that there was unity in the Congress ranks and wanted the controversial Assembly Speaker Vishwas Satarkar to resign on his own.
