Kidnapped toddler Arpit returns back home Sunday, February 6 2005 16:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The anxiety gripping Bharti and Arvind Dewan for almost a week evaporated today (Feb 6, 2005) when they took into their laps their 18-month-old son Arpit, who was abducted by their maid and rescued by police in Orissa.
Jubilation spread among family members and their relatives when the toddler was brought by a flight from Kolkata this morning to be reunited with his family.
"I don't know how the six days had passed. The amount of happiness that I got now makes me forget those six days. It seems as if I went through a nightmare and its over and its back to normal, rather it is better now," Bharti, Arpit's mother, said.
The party-like atmosphere shifted from the airport to the Srinivas Puri Police Station in South Delhi where Bharti and Arvind cut a cake, specially sent by the office of the Delhi Police Commissioner to celebrate the boy's rescue.
Incidentally, today is Bharti's birthday. "I will never forget this birthday of mine," she said.
Arpit had been abducted from his home in Sreenivaspuri in South Delhi on January 31 by maid Sabitri Minz employed by the family only 10 days back.
After a hunt that spanned several States, police nabbed Sabitri in Rajgangpur town in Orissa's Sundergarh district.
