28 killed, 29 injured in bus accident in Kashmir

Udhampur: Twenty-eight people were killed and 29 injured, 15 of them seriously, when a passenger bus they were travelling in rolled down into a gorge in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir today (Feb 6, 2005).

The bus was on its way to Udhampur town from Ramnagar when it skidded off the road and fell into the 300-ft gorge at Barman at around 1145 hrs (IST), official sources said.

Twenty-five people were killed on the spot while three died on way to hospital, the sources said.

The injured have been admitted to Udhampur district hospital while the critically injured were being shifted to Government Medical College hospital in Jammu, the sources added.
