Kalam suffers minor fracture; to undergo operation Sunday, February 6 2005 19:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

President A P J Abdul Kalam today (Feb 6, 2005) slipped during his morning walk and suffered a minor fracture in the right shoulder, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman S M Khan said in New Delhi.
The spokesman said the President would undergo an operation tomorrow (Feb 7, 2005) morning.
According to Khan, the President "while taking his routine morning walk today slipped at a spot near herbal garden in Rashtrapati Bhavan and as a consequence got a mild fracture in right shoulder.
"This requires a surgical correction and rest for a few days. The President will be admitted to Research and Referral hospital of Ministry of Defence and the operation will take place tomorrow morning," he said.
The President's injury forced postponement of the Governor's conference which he was to have inaugurated at the Rashtrapati Bhavan from Feb 8, 2005.
The conference stands postponed as the President requires rest for a few days after the "surgical correction," the spokesman said.
Vice President Bharion Singh Shekhawat, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and State governors have been informed, he added.
