Conspiracy on to destabilise UP Govt: Mulayam Sunday, February 6 2005 16:07 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dhanbad (Jharkhand):
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today (Feb 6, 2005) alleged that a conspiracy had been hatched to destabilise his Government.
The party was being defamed; MPs and MLAs were being implicated in false cases, Yadav said, adding that these were parts of the conspiracy.
Yadav, who came to Jharkhand to hold election meeting, said party MP Atiq Ahmed was politically implicated as his brother Mohammad Ashraf was arrested in connection with the killing of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal.
The Chief Minister had earlier said personal enmity was behind the killing of Pal and there had been no politics. In Uttar Pradesh, Yadav claimed, 13 Congress MLAs were named accused in various criminal cases but they have not surrendered.
A son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had also been named accused in the murder case of an Opposition MLA but none demanded President's Rule there, he said adding his party was being targetted for political reason.
Claiming that the law and order situation in the State was out of control at the time of his assuming power, Yadav asserted that now it was better than other States.
