Parrikar to move Bombay HC in a couple of days Sunday, February 6 2005 19:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Panaji:
Choosing to take legal recourse, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Dal) today (Feb 6, 2005) said it would file a petition in the Bombay High Court in a couple of days challenging the dismissal of Manohar Parrikar Ministry and pleading for its reinstatement.
"Parrikar will be filing a petition in Bombay High Court either tomorrow or the day after that praying for dismissal of Pratapsinh Rane Government and immediate reinstatement as Chief Minister on the ground that the Governor should have waited for Assembly Speaker's report before he dismissed the Government," BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Parsekar said in Panaji.
"The petition will be filed in the Panaji bench of Bombay High Court and the governor and the present Government have been made parties", he told reporters.
Party sources said former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee was most likely to represent Parrikar in court.
The party also said it would be organising a string of protests and demonstrations against Goa Governor S C Jamir who dismissed Parrikar Government.
"We will be starting the protests in Panaji on February 8. It will then go on to taluka levels and finish off on February 16 with a public rally in Mapusa to be addressed by our party president L K Advani," Parsekar said.
Claiming the Rane Government was in a minority from the day it had assumed power, he said it would be impossible for Congress to prove its majority on the floor of the House.
