Kancheepuram: One more accused in the Sankararaman murder case, Arumugam, was today (Feb 6, 2005) detained under the Goondas Act, police said.

Arumugam is facing charges in connection with the "proxy" surrender of five persons in the case on October 27 last.

With the detention of Arumugam, as many as 13 of the 25 accused in the case have so far been detained under the act, usually invoked against habitual offenders and those detained could not seek bail for one year.

Only yesterday (Feb 5, 2005), Appu and 'Dil' Pandian were detained under the act in the case in which Kanchi Seers Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi have been cited as prime accused.

Those detained under the act are, Katiravan, Chinna, Ambikapathy, 'Mattu' Bhasker, Meenakshisundaram, Anandakumar, Anil Kumar, K S Kumar, Sundaresa Iyer, R Raghu, Appu, 'Dil' Pandian and Arumugam.
