Some people feel I'm not part of BJP: Uma Bharti Sunday, February 6 2005 20:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
In an apparent allusion to her critics in BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), firebrand saffron leader Uma Bharti today (Feb 6, 2005) said some people might feel that she was not part of the organization and admitted she was not a disciplined party worker.
Asked if she was an asset or a liability for the party, Bharti told, "Aaj Tak" "you should ask Advaniji. The party and I are inseparable. Some people might feel that I am not a part of the organisation but party workers feel otherwise", a press release issued by the news channel said.
"I am not a disciplined party worker and I will not do anything in which I don't have any conviction", she said.
To a question on her expulsion from the party, she said, "I was expelled from the party based on a technicality. I had frequently talked about these issues with Advaniji but at that point we were on camera, and it was termed as indiscipline".
About her comeback to BJP, Bharti said, "I never expressed regrets. I disregarded my ego when the party workers expressed their sorrow on my expulsion. I have no other interests".
Asked who will be the next BJP President, she said, " I don't take sides. Whoever becomes the President, I will support him," she said.
Bharati announced she will undertake a 'padyatra' in Andhra Pradesh from February 25 "where 2,000 farmers committed suicide".
"I am a follower of Mahatma Gandhi. I fully conform to his belief that development has to start from the grass-root level", she said.
