Varanasi (UP): A US national was found dead in a guest- house near Manikarnika ghat in Varanasi last night (Feb 5, 2005), police said today (Feb 6, 2005).

The deceased, identified as Mayfield Charles, who had arrived in Varanasi from Kathmandu on Feb 3, 2005, reportedly died in his room due to heart failure, police said.

The body of Charles (39) has been sent for post mortem while the US embassy in New Delhi has been informed about the incident, police said adding some medicines, $ 180 US in cash, a camera and a CD player were recovered from the spot.
