Sankararaman case: 2 detained under Goondas Act Monday, February 7 2005 12:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Two more accused in the Sankararaman murder case were today (Feb 07, 2005) detained under the Goondas Act, police said.
District Collector R Venkatesan last night (Feb 06, 2005) signed the order detaining Sathish (A18) and 'Kuruvi' Ravi (A15), who are among the five persons accused of making 'proxy' surrender in the case on October 27.
With this the total number of those detained in the case under the Act has risen to 15. In the last three days alone, five accused have been detained under the act usually invoked against habitual offenders. Those detained are not entitled to seek bail for one year.
A total of 25 persons, including Shankaracharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi, have been listed as accused in the case relating to the murder of local temple official Sankararaman on September 3 in Kancheepuram.
Sathish and Ravi have been charged under IPC sections 201 (giving false information) and 120B (conspiracy).
Those detained under the act are: Kathiravan, Chinna, Ambikapathy, 'Mattu' Bhasker, Meenakshisundaram, Anandakumar, Anil Kumar, K S Kumar, Sundaresa Iyer, R Raghu, Appu, 'Dil' Pandian, Arumugam, Sathish and 'Kuruvi' Ravi.
