Infiltration in JK has come down by 30 %: DGMI Monday, February 7 2005 16:06 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Shillong:
Infiltration from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir has gone down by 30 per cent in the last few months, Director General of Military Intelligence Lt Gen Richard Khare said in Shillong today (Feb 7, 2005).
Lt Gen Khare, who was in Shillong in connection with biennial conference of the 5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier force) of which he is the colonel commandant, told sources in Shillong that the decline in infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir was recorded in the past 5-6 months.
This was possible primarily because of better surveillance system of the Army equipped with laser device and thermal imaging, the DGMI said.
The Armed corps in Jammu and Kashmir was receiving counter-insurgency training in its schools, he said.
