Kishanganj:
After Bhagalpur, posters depicting post-godhra riots in Gujarat have once again surfaced in the Kishanganj constituency of Union Minister
Mohammed Taslimuddin, prompting the district authorities to file an FIR against the All India Shia-Sunni United Front (AISSUF) and the firm, which allegedly printed the posters.
Officer in charge of Kishanganj Police station Mohammed Safiuddin told sources in Kishanganj today (Feb 7, 2005) that a case was registered with the town police station against the Guddu Press and the Shia-Sunni front for violating the model code for elections on the directive of the district electoral officer-cum-district magistrate Vijay Kumar.
An investigation was on, he said, adding no arrest had been made so far.
Amid stern warning by the Election Commission (EC) against using "communal" posters of post-godhra riots, the posters were pasted on the walls in Khagra area of Kishanganj town.
Printed in Urdu on behalf of the front, the posters have photograph of RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) president Laloo Prasad and a burning train depicting the fire in the Sabarmati Express in the backdrop and a message asking the electorate to vote for the RJD.
Similar posters on Gujarat riots had appeared in Bhagalpur generating a controversy on the eve of the first phase poll held on February 3.
All the Assembly constituencies in Kishanganj district go to poll in the second phase on February 15.
