Three jawans rescued from avalanche in J&K Tuesday, February 8 2005 17:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police jawans and an Indian Reserve Police personnel were today (Feb 8, 2005) rescued, 36 hours after an avalanche swept five huts of the force near Jawahar tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway leaving eight jawans dead, official sources said in Srinagar.
The three were rescued by a team from High Altitude Warfare School of the Army following massive search operations after they went missing yesterday (Feb 7,2005) the sources said.
The rescued jawans were sent to a hospital for treatment as they have spent most of the past one and half day in freezing conditions, they said.
Avalanche struck five huts of ITPB at around 2.30 hrs (IST) yesterday (Feb 7, 2005) and left eight jawans dead, the sources said.
