President Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan is "very serious" about betterment of relations with India and hoped that the composite dialogue process would lead to a just solution of all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.
Musharraf apprised visiting Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga about the Indo-Pak peace process in Islamabad last night (Feb 8, 2005) and expressed hope that the ongoing composite dialogue process would lead to a just solution of all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our efforts move in tandem with the confidence building measures and the dialogue process going on between India and Pakistan," he said.
"Pakistan is very serious on moving forward on the betterment of relations between India and Pakistan so that the entire South Asian region benefits from it through the resolution of disputes to the mutual benefit of the peoples of the region," Musharraf said.
Kumaratunga said improvement in the Indo-Pak relations would augur well for regional economic cooperation.
"We would like to commend very sincerely President Musharraf's efforts at resolving the burning issue of region, that is the issue of Kashmir between India and Pakistan. President Musharraf has been very sincere in his efforts," she said.
